I was looking through this site and I noticed awhile ago that Tommy, with the big house and $100,000.00 car kept coming back here and beheading people.  He asked someone why they were trolling this site, if they didn't owe any back payments.  I just want to know why Tommy kept coming back to troll this site?  Tommy, get a real life and enjoy your nice car ... (probably an old Gremlin or Pacer)

It is a card holder company. Agree 8-10 times a day is crazy. Their 800 number is FREE for you to call but cost the company $$, so call them back and stay on the line long enought to get to an operator and then hang up.

British bank HSBC has agreed to pay $1.9 billion to settle a New York based-probe in connection with the laundering of money from narcotics traffickers in Mexico, U.S. authorities announced Tuesday. This is who you support when you give HSBC any money.  They are crooks and you have no obligation to pay them any debt owed.

Capital One has higher fees than HSBC and is more aggressive about adding them on. ON the other hand, the CO payment system was always more friendly than HSBC. If you try to pay on the due date with HSBC, they ding you for a $15 "rush" fee to avoid the late charge ($25). Capital One was always good accepting payment on the day of the due date.

This is HSBC however HSBC/household bank was in trouble and they sold most of their credit card brands to Capital One, so it is still "HSBC" brand but it is actually now under going transition to Capital One (and now owned by them).  Apparently the will continue to license the HSBC brand name for the cards, and all the numbers will continue to remain the same however.Big new fact though.  I know they are sending out letters to SOME customers informing them of this, but not all.  I think it is mainly affinity programs that are getting the notice. As far as if Capital One is Better or Worse than the "orginal" hsbc/household bank, not sure, but as a rule seems that those brands that advertise a lot or use mass media tend to be lower rated in customer satisfaction, and never heard anything particularly good about Capital One

I kept getting calls to and so I finally called the 800 # back and got an automated response saying they have identified my acct # based on the # I was calling from (the one they keep calling) and it also told me the last 4 of the acct holders SS# and said if i wasn't that person to hang up. I didn't & pressed 0 like 2 or 3 times and got a live person and explained to them that I wasn't who they were looking for (and i wasn't cuz my last 4 weren't the ones listed they had) and told them to cease calling me ASAP or I would report them to National Do not call and debtor complaints because I have the logs on caller id as to when and how many times they called me. They apologized and said they would take my # out. We will see though....

I get 2 to 3 calls a day from this number and EVERY time I answer it there is nobody there, just an open line. Now I don't answer it but I am tired of them calling me. I have an account with them but the payment comes out of my checking account automatically so I can't imagine why they are calling....and I don't care. I am going to contact my phone company to block them from calling me.

I was getting the same calls and couldn't figure it out since I don't use HSBC for anything and have no CC debt. But then I remembered that I'm also using Google VOICE for craigslist and stuff like that for forwarding to my real number (when I sell something or whatever). so if you use Google Voice this may be forwarded from the last user.

You can simply contact your MP/MPP for assistance.  They can verify who live in your household and who's not. How ?  Voters list. Almost every Canadian citizen over the age of 18 are on that list. They even got the address, phone number & date of birth of each individual. Unless the collection agency is looking for a person who is under 18 of ago or homeless, then you are out of luck.Ask the name of the agency, name of the person(agent) who handle the case & the case number. Call your MP/MPP, ask him/her to contact the agency on your behalf. Trust me, most MP/MPP are willing to help. Cause you know, there is no free lunch. When it's election time, you know who you should give your vote to.For people just want to block unwanted telemarketing calls. Please check out my post @386-233-3694

I have the misfortune of getting two of these cards to build back my credit after a divorce. The only thing to do is pay them off, close by consumer in formal writing, reqisterd mail return receipt, get on the do not call list and also on the "opt out" list so your information is no longer shared with marketing companies. This does NOT stop them from selling it to bill collectors, and any time you open a bank account or apply for credit you give your phone number, so the credit agencies get your information, and they also have your employer listed on the credit file.

She told me that i didnt have to mail it but could have Wired teh money to a certain mail box as it would of been much faster. she then verified my phone number and the next day the calls started at 6am, and continued every 20 minutes after that.  i answered one last time with foul language and they laughed and hung up. i ignored the call for a week, till i gave up and changed my phone number.  i refuse to give my phone number to any CC people, they wanna contact me they can do it by emailthat was my way of solving their annoyance :)

Amun,I am so sorry you have to go through the torture from this company.  I too am in the same situation where I lost my job and unable to pay what they are requesting.  HSBC are like vultures preying on the already beaten down just waiting to eat your dead bones!!! It's ridiculous how many times they constantly call.  Over and over and over and over again.  They start at 8:02am and end at 8:57pm.  It's pathetic.  Constantly calling people who supposedly owe you money won't make it come in any sooner!!! I have chosen to pickup the phone and just hang it right back up or don't answer it at all.  They are thoroughly annoying. Arghhhh!!!!!!!!!
Report by Amun Long ago Unknown
This number calls me several times a day, EVERY day. If I do not answer the phone, their autodialer hangs up on the answering machine, and if I do answer, their people hang up on me. Then the system calls me back in about 4-5 minutes, and we go through the whole process over again. It is getting REALLY old. I counted the calls one day and their were 28. TWENTY god damned EIGHT phone calls in one day! They start at exactly 7:45am every day, and end somewhere around 9:30pm . I find it very annoying, particularly because after years and years of working night shift, I sleep in the early daylight hours and am up all night... so typically I'm about one hour into sleeping and the phone starts ringing.Yes, it is HSBC. And I do actually have a credit card through them. The card is technically late in payments. I lost my job and have little to no income, so I've been sending what I can. It just doesn't add up to what they want. So on the occasions when they do NOT hang up on me, I go through the whole argument with them about the debt, and they try to tell me I need to sell everything I own (which is precisely nothing) and send them the money, or get a friend or relative to take out a loan to pay them, etc. etc. - very unreasonable. So after talking to them, hang up, wait an hour or so, and they will call me back and go through the entire thing over again. One day I talked to their agents FIVE TIMES. All for the same damned account! I even got the same person twice! And when I told them I had already spoken to them they told me they hadn't called me since the week before and that I was obviously mistaken.  o.O  Also, one delusional operator from this company had the nerve to tell me that the economy is presently stronger than it has ever been, and unemployment is at all time lows, and that if I am unemployed it is obviously by my own choosing. Crackhead! After that I just stopped answering. Now I answer the phone for nobody. I let the machine pick up and if it's someone I want to talk to I will call them back. If God himself were to call me, he'd have to leave a message!

Yes, you are all right, it is Household bank, Yes! even if you are not late with your payments and even if you don't have a CC with them. First, if you have a card with them and are not late, they want to set up a payment, to help them with the cash flow.( So many people have defaulted) If you are late, I am soooo sorry they will not stop, from early in the morning till late at night and yes on sunday, even very early morning. If you don't have a card, maybe your a neighbor of someone who is late and they are trying to contact them. All of these calls are coming from over seas, when you frist pick up it takes a few minutes for the satelite to connect you so at first it sounds like no one is there, but there is. please note, most of these calls are from this 800 number, but wait, if they never get a peson on line, they will re-route they calls from a local area code in your neighborhood and it will say "Gateway Call" . lets say you live in a 212 area code, the caller ID will say Gateway Call and the numher will be 212-xxx-xxxx so you may think its a friend or other business call but it will be them. Good luck people I hope this information helps you

Be very carefull. This company tries to "sell" you services like shopping discounts, insurance, etc. to "fill" the card so you have no available credit, and they either own all the services they are selling to you or get a percentage. Its a control method so they reap all the benefits of having you as a client plus charging you a ton of interest so you may not be late paying, etc. they are just trying every trick in the book to fill up that card.

The number is HSBC who services a lot of credit cards companies as well as best buy. Even if you keep all your card payments current it will not matter. If you close your card account it will not matter. They say that if you have ever done business with the the companies they service that it states in those lovely contracts that we agree to giving HSBC the right to solicit via the number we provided in the contract. They are legally protected and we have unknowingly given them the right to call us. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I have simply saved their 800 number and their 713 number that they have been calling me from and blocked those numbers on my phone. That's how I quit getting their calls.

Ana,  The best thing you can do at this time is to put all your phone numbers, including cell phone numbers, into the Do Not Call Registry.  Once you do that, give it the 30 days they request for this service to take hold.  From there, monitor all phone messages, write down all phone numbers give in voice mail, the time the call came in and of course the day/date.  Make as many complaints to the Do Not Call Registry as possible.  After alot of looking around, this phone number belongs to a place called Card Services.  I am assuming that this is a credit card company of some sort.  Make sure that you do not have a credit card through this company before filing any complaints.  If you do have a card through this company, it might be assumed that they are calling you due to some sort of solicitation or late payments.  Always document, document, document.  Its the only way to catch them at their own dirty little game.  I too am getting phone calls from not only this phone number, but a couple of others and sympathize with you 100%.  Good Luck.

These ba$tards call me up to 15 times a day.  Like many of you, I don't even bother picking up the phone (I don't pick it up for ANY "Unavailable" type call).  I am also, like many of you, a victim of getting these calls even on the weekends.  It doesn't matter the day, the calls begin early in the morning and continue until 10:00 at night.  No messages, so I'm assuming either the call isn't that important (so why call then??), or more likely it's computer-generated ( I HATE lazy-a** automation!).  Here's the kicker:  If it IS a credit card company, I don't even HAVE a credit card!  I've never owned one in my LIFE!  I have no outstanding debts or loans, and nothing on my credit report.  I wish I had Call-Block available in my area.

Not entirely true. State laws supercede federal laws if they are stricter, such as Washington, which has a three-call-a-day rule. Doesn't matter if we speak to them or not. Also, one contact. If they hang up, talk to us or we leave a message, no more calls for the day. And, no more than three contacts per week. Debt collectors are supposed to know which states have which rules before they call. I also used to telemarket and our auto dialer would notify us if we were talking to someone who lived in a state where there are no rebuttals (you offer a service, the customer says no, and you say, "but Mr. Jackson, don't you know blah blah blah...). My point being, FDCPA laws are a minimum standard and states can issue standards higher than the federal ones. Best bet is to check with your states collection laws.

sorry buddy but it is a violation of law and you CANNOT call 20 times a day even to those that owe you money, in fact more times then not the Judge will drop the owed payment in a heartbeat if they catch folks like YOU calling people 20 times a day. Once it goes to court the person can and does often enough file a counter suit, not only are the payments dropped that are owed but the harassing company has to pay a fine and debt to the person that they committed the offense to. You are trained to think that you are in your jurisdiction to do so but you can be suit collectively as a company and PERSONALLY too !!! I know I use to be a para legal for an ACLU attorney amongst other things.  No matter if it is a debt collector or not, you do not have the right to intimidate, nor lie on the phone, nor harass, badger or threaten with lies to get an address or anything of the sort. YES many of these debt collectors do nefarious things like sell the information to others as well, they have no idea how much damage they can cause by being as criminal as those that cannot pay their debt, actually MOST folks would pay if they could, if they do not its because our nation and world economy has been sold out and trodden under foot. Nobody would not refuse to pay if they had the money and YET bill collectors torment and harass, thank God there are some awesome judges that are doing their part to stop this. A criminal is a criminal no matter what side of the desk they sit on. Its criminal to harass, there are U.C.C codes that protect the right and liberty of people UCC Title 18 Section 241 & 242 explicitly states this. And a person can actually pay a heavy fine of thousands of dollars and jail time for doing it. Folks need to learn their rights and pursue them fully to stop crooks of companies from harassing, using their personal data and also for not following laws and rights of the person in debt, there are ways to handle it but harassing is not one of them... Got it  java... To those that need advice, go look up taping laws and then find out your state laws, usually if you are apart of the conversation you can tape, you can also just point blankly state to the collector hunter that you are taping and then see how they either turn their call to sicky sweet or hang up faster then tomorrow. They usually always state that you are being taped, you too can tape and let them know it too... This way when you they call and say Hi I'm with blah blah company, that will already be on the tape, then you can state up front you are taping too, then if they refuse to give you their name, their location, their extension, their supervisor , or any of it, you got a HUGE case for court !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  taping is not illegal and often if you check the laws out they are very clear on it, you can also use the tape for documentation to keep your notes clear and write the entire tape down as well, so you not only have a tape but it in written form for the judge to view.. A good attorney will use it FAST, an unlearned one will not understand how to use tapes, most attorneys do though.

"They can call twenty times a day and it is still legal"Actually, no.  They cannot do this.  If either you or your fiance call me or someone like me who knows which end is up, like that, you'll find out exactly how expensive a mistake that was!  Not only is a calling schedule such as 20 times a day excessive by FDCPA standards, it is also a violation of telephone harassement statutes.Apparently you are not so 'well aware' of your limitations as you think you are."If there is a debt owed then we can call as many times as it takes to get you to answer. "Again, no you can't.  The law is that you are supposed to get something in writing - a demand letter - out to the person from whom you are attempting to collect within 5 days of that first call.  Substituting that legally required letter with more phone calls only makes you all that much more vulnerable to prosecution under the FDCPA.  It's $1,000 per call under the FDCPA and $1,500 under telephone harassement statutes.  If you don't believe me, see for yourself.  Contact the FTC and the FCC.

It is a violation of F.D.C.P.A to repeatedly call consumers who do owe on a debt, and when a collection agency violates that law that collection agency can be fine up to $1000 per incident. It's called harassment!! And there are laws against this...Read up on it!!!

Wrong!!! If you call someone contantly and they ask that you STOP calling and instead send a letter reuqesting recoupe for the dept...you HAVE to comply, stop calling and instead send them a letter. You can send as many as you want but if someone requests you stop calling there number and you continue...that's harrassement and is punishable by law. They can bring up chrages againts you and your company.

Your incorrect in your notion that "your" company does not call on Sunday or requesting that my number be removed from their autodialer. I don't have a credit card or anything else with HSBC nor would I as they are crooks, however; they call me incessantly all day long. Either they don't know how to leave a message on voice mail or they just refuse. Mostly it is from overseas.

So let me get it straight. If I were a collector and I called you 10 times a day you would like that. Just curious. Guess if the shoe was on the other foot it would be different. Collectors don't even use their real names for fear of being sued.  Call someone for a debt. Use your real name. Call once a day and BE NICE. Scare tactics are illegal but most people are suckers. The Internet has made collectors jobs more difficult educating people of their rights. It is not right that the statute of limitations has run out on the debt and the collection agency wants you to promise to pay something so the debt will reage to current. THAT TO ME is poor business and anyone doing that should be fired and the company they work for sued
Report by Bob B. Long ago Unknown
Actually, even if you owe a debt, you can tell a collection agency to not call you, and they must stop, but they can contact you in writing.  Federal law even limits those with legitimate debts from harassment.  Follow the law, or the next thing you know, legitimate debt or not, you're in court for harassment, and you wind up paying more in legal fees and judgments than the debt was to begin with.  Also, many collection agencies just call anyone with the same last name (I have a very common last name and get numerous calls fior others with the same last name) listed in the phone book. Upon the advice of an excellent consumer attorney in my home city, I work on the 3 strikes you're out system:  I document the incoming calls and will tell you twice you have the wrong person.  On the 3rd call, I contact  that attorney, and have a complaint filed.  I've won 2 of these cases that made it all the way into court, and I didn't owe the company a dime (I have 1 credit card which gets paid in full every month.)  A reputable collection agency can get what's owed to them by following the law.  The court doesn't seem to accept the "mistake" and "mixed up" defense, BTW.

Report by java Long ago Unknown
Actually it is not a violation IF you owe a debt. They can call twenty times a day and it is still legal. My fiance and i both work for collection agencies and we are well aware of our limitations. If there is a debt owed then we can call as many times as it takes to get you to answer. We cannot call after 9 pm and where it is legal to call on a Sunday our company does not. You can report all you want, but once they investigate and find out it is an attempt to collect a DEBT it will go nowhere. We also DO follow do not call lists, so if you do not owe a debt and we still call you, you can request to be taken off the list. Sometimes there is a mistake in the system and phone numbers get mixed up. But one of the things I hear most is "Oh that's not my debt" in which case you need to investigate it because your identity has most likely been stolen then.

Following the procedures set forth by federal law doesn't work, either. I've filed several complaints, but because I don't get detailed information from whoever is on the other line (because they hang up before you can get any such information out of them), the complaints are dropped by the FCC. "Not enough information," they say, even if you provide them the phone number, business name, and date/time of the call. You do realize that if they are calling you after 9:00 PM that that is illegal? If they do it again, get the persons name id and the name of the agency from which they are calling from, then speak to a manager, get their name and ID number. Get an address of where you can send correspondence. I would threaten legal action and a report to the BBB. Create a cease and desist letter and copy it to a legal firm of your choice and to the BBB. If this doesnt stop the calls I don't know what will. But make sure you have documentation of when they called the number that they called from when you include this.

It's an auto-dialer.  If you wait long enough, and I'm not saying you should, you'll probably be connected to an 'operator' who is either a soft collector, hard collector, or marketer, depending on your situation.  HSBC probably doesn't care if you don't know the purpose of the call.    The silent period after you pick up is a delay caused by the auto-dialer's workflow.   As soon as an operator became available, it called your number because yours is the next one in the queue.  Unfortunately, if the 'operator' takes a break and doesn't tell the software to skip him or her,  the workflow software has to wait before sending you to the next available 'operator'.  To me, that's a blessing, because I assume it's an auto-dialer when I hear nothing.  So, I hang up.  Hopefully, HSBC won't receive any bail-out funds, because I'd hate to see them increase their 'operator' staff and bug the h*ll out of more people.  They've called me 5 times a day for the past week, even though  I've paid my credit card religiously.  Please on't bail them out!www.notosocialism.us.

Well that is all depending WHY they are calling, if you have done business with them or their vendor, or given them (or a vendor they represent) permission to call, then DNC list does not apply.  As for teens this MAY be bit more fuzzy, however I think the same rules apply or if a parent/guarden gave them permission, the exception may be if you are under 13, but not sure what happens if a parent inadvertently gives permission.

Lisa, by the laws stated in the fdcpa they have to.  I would try to send another letter but with fedex or another company like that.  by doing it this way you can find out when they received it.  i worked in collections for six months and hated every second of it, (i was told i was too customer service and needed to be more of an a**).  you can also send a cease and desist letter which will get them to stop calling but whatever debt will still be out there.  just Google cease and desist letter template and you can find an easy way of creating one.  The laws in the fdcpa vary state to state but overall are the same.  these people can only call you once a day (contact has to be made with the "debtor" or a message is left on the voice mail) and after that, its a big no no.  they can technically keep calling as long as a message isn't left or contact hasn't been made.  But at that point they are getting into harassment.  For an example, over the last three days i have received 15 calls from this number.  that is considered harassment and i will be going after them with a lawyer.  sorry for the wall of text.  if you, or anyone else, have any questions feel free to ask.  email is trueform28@email.com or ask here.

What happens if the company doesn't respond to the Validation of Debt request?
Report by Rights Long ago Unknown
Actually, you can send a "Validaton of Debt" request for any charges they say you owe. If they cantprove it, then you don't owe it.You can also send a "Cease and Desist", which prohibits them from contacting you at all, save for certain exceptions (listed in the FDCPA).That said, the latter should be a last resort if you owe a debt, as it often prompts legal action. The validaton of debt idoes help in the event that your debt has been sold to a collection agency, as they often can't provide documentation to back ther claim. When you send one, send it certified mail. They're not allowed to contact you again until the validate it, and they only have 30 days to do that.

Don't ever give any debt collector your name or address!! Here's the thing about Capital One. They say they aren't like the others with fees, but they do one thing that no other company has ever done to me. If you max the card, and it goes over the limit during the finance charge addition, they will charge you for it. If you pay the minimum (which I did when out of a job), and it remains over the limit, they will again charge the overlimit fee. The overlimit fee is often more than the minimum required payment, so a person trying to slowly pay off the card just winds up deeper in debt. I said screw them, and stopped paying and put the money toward other cards. Now they are offering to settle at 50% of the total owed, which is about what it would have been if the fees had not been tacked on. I've dealt with more expensive cards, but no one has as poor customer service and fee handling as Capital One.
Report by ouchthatburns Long ago Unknown
Oh, also DNC list does NOT  apply or mean anything if you are their customer, or customer of a business/vendor they represent, or if you have given them or someone they represent permission to contact you.  Or if you are a minor, that a parent also may have given permission. DNC registry list no longer applies in any of those cases.  Truth is DNC list doesn't stop most calls as those calling now adays have some form of business relationship with you, even if you don't know it.DNC list applies ONLY applies to cold calling, and the people that do most of those calls do so from little 3rd world countries outside the US, making them hard to reach by government hands

This is HSBC however a couple things you should know, this is one of their many white label numbers.  This means that if you own one of a 100 different credit cards or store credit cards , it is still under HSBC, even if you never heard the name before.ALSO HSBC/household bank was in trouble and they sold many of their credit card brands to Capital One, they are going to use the  "HSBC" brand apparently, but it is actually now under going transition to Capital One (and now owned by them).  Apparently the will continue to license the HSBC brand name for the cards, and all the numbers will continue to remain the same however.  If you have an affinity card like a branded card or one of 100's of store credit cards, I assume those are mostly going to Capital One too, however I know that the visa/mastercard ones are.Big new fact though.

So HSBC will not only not get paid by me they will further waste money trying to obtain money from me that in no way can they get.  Keep sending letters. Keep calling. Send attorneys to represent you in court. The bottom line is I have very little money and that money is social security and can't be touched.

HSBC also entered into a business agreement that they would not defraud their investors.  Criminal acts were performed....and yet no one went to jail.  Now they will pay for their criminal acts with the money they collect from decent, ordinary people.  Probably will jack up fees and interest rates.  Their has been no sign of contrition on their part.  To them, the felony was just a business deal.If you borrowed money from an uncle...and found out he was using it to produce child pornography, would you continue to send him checks?  Paying them back is supporting a criminal enterprise.

Sorry to burst your bubble there 'Tommy'. I don't owe a single penny to anyone, for anything. The only debt I maintain is for business and tax purposes. Of course, I don't expect you to understand that any debt can be advantageous. You're just a low-life debt collector and the only thing you'd know about taxes is how to fill out a 1040 and wait for your refund check. So 'Tommy', do you actually think the people here are looking for a 'free ride'? They are not. The vast majority of people here have been victimized by sleazy debt collectors. Debt collectors who are incapable of getting honest work. Scum who have felony records and/or substance abuse problems. Dirt-bags who convince themselves that sitting all day on their fat, lazy behinds trying to con people out of money is a real job. Debt collectors who lie about what they do because they know what they are. Losers. You see 'Tommy', I know debt collectors. I've been in court rooms with more than a few. As a Plaintiff, not as a Defendant. It's always easy to spot a debt collector in a court room. The only ones there looking slimier than they are are their half-drunk Attys. And if their Attys. are only half-drunk it means it's still morning and the counselors haven't drank there lunch yet. Before you start mentally composing your reply 'Tommy', know this. I've never taken a pay-day loan. I've never even given it a thought. Like most people I have problems, but money is not one of them. I've never been sued and I can honestly say that there is not a soul on this planet who would be able to conceive of a reason why I would be. But I have been forced to legally pursue frauds who have been foolish enough to think that the people they prey upon are just as worthless as they are. The one shining asset that most debt collectors share is there incredible arrogance and there equally impressive stupidity. Debt collectors employ people who are even dumber than they are. That includes their Attys. Which is why the only times you'll see debt collectors in court is when they've been served. Or arrested. You want to applaud debt collectors 'Tommy'? Then spin your chair around and give all your fellow vermin in the boiler-room a big hand. Then try and get all their real names and phone numbers. You're sitting on a gold mine there 'Tommy'! Debt collectors are by far the biggest dead-beats in existence. Not that you'll ever collect a dime from them. If they had anything (or any pride) they wouldn't be debt collectors. But you are right 'Tommy'. There is no free ride. Debt collectors know this very well. They're always slinking around looking for bus fare.
Report by tommy Long ago Unknown
you people need to lay off debt collectors. it isn't their fault you don't live up to your obligations. you borrowed money, you had fun spending it, now pay it back. to me, it is the debtors, not the collectors, that should be ashamed of themselves.  i'm on here because i forgot to send a payment and wondered who was calling me.  i'm embarrassed that i'm late, as should all of you whiny bi****s that blame the collector.  you don't get a free ride in this life.  i'm sure the collector doesn't love their job, but they understand that any job is necessary to survive, pay their bills, and not sit around bitching about it.  i applaud them, and would do it myself if i needed to.  better than living off the government, borrowing money from creditors, and not paying it back.  freeloading a***oles.

Actually a debt collector is not one step below a fast food worker. A debt colector is far below that. The 5$ crack w***e on the corner has a social position well above that of a debt collector. The w***e at least provides a service. A debt collector provides nothing. He is there to enrich his bosses and make a few meager dollars for himself.Put simply, the only organisms on this planet lower than a debt collector are the outright crooks working out of India, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

"Everyone has to have a job and in this economy some beggars can't be choosers as the saying goes."  Actually if you were educated you would not be begging for jobs they would be begging you.  Obviously debt collection is one of the few things you are qualified for and should be thankful some fool would even hire you. Debt collection one step below a fast food worker.

So let me get this straight. You expect us to believe that you are just late on a payment and yet you keep coming back to this board to comment on others. Does this lie make sense? Of course you are a scumbag debt collector. My God you are not even smart enough to remember your ID.  Now when you try and comment on this post you better think of a good reason you are checking on this board.  Let me explain another thing to you because I think you don't understand much. The 6 or 7 calls a day are forwarded to a cell phone that does not ever ring. I check it at the end of the day and laugh at all your lame attempts to contact me. You won't ever see a penny of my money.
Report by Angie Long ago Unknown
Actually, I looked up this number because they called me. I am late on my payment. Doesn't matter why, but I do feel it is an obligation that I owe and it seriously ticks me off when others don't feel they shouldn't pay.As far as your comment that debt collectors are scumbags: if you owned a business and someone owed you money, wouldn't you want someone to collect that debt for you? Or are you so nice you'd just like to give things away? Everyone has to have a job and in this economy some beggars can't be choosers as the saying goes. Don't be stupid. Also, the "husband made all the debt and left me with it" is a tired excuse. Own up to your responsibility.
Report by Brenda Long ago Unknown
I always wonder why someone with good credit would even be reading these boards??  Sounds like a debt collector arguing their case. I wonder even more what kind of scumbag would choose debt collection as a job???My debts were incurred when my a** husband left me with nothing and stole what little I have. Am I as much a slimy person as this bank which apparently helped mexican drug gangs with their drug trade.  If you are not aware of it people are being murdered in this drug war in mexico.  I don't think my failure to pay a $500 debt compares to the murder of people in mexico. Maybe in your twisted world it does but then I can't imagine anybody who would choose debt collection as a way to make money unless they were the type of person who feeds on the pain of others and then I bet those murders in mexico actually make you feel good.

More than morality for them. As previously pointed out, you entered into a business agreement with them when you accepted and used their card. Looks like you're just looking for a excuse to not pay your debt which makes you almost slimy as they. Besides that: HSBC sold their credit cards to Capitol One so you don't owe HSBC anymore, you owe Cap One. Stop making excuses.
Report by Sean Long ago Unknown
A bit more than morality involved here. HSBC was in business with drug dealers. That is illegal and not up for a morality test. They said they were sorry as if that is enough. I am sorry I can't pay back my debt. That should suffice.

Unless the collection agency is looking for a person who is under 18 of ago or homeless, then you are out of luck.Ask the name of the agency, name of the person(agent) who handle the case & the case number.

You don't seem to be able to keep your ID's straight. It looks like you are a liar and the you came here because of a late payment won't work because if you paid it why are you coming back to this board.  You are a scumbag debt collector and maybe you should get a real job instead of one where you harrass people for a living.  The bottom line is you won't get a penny from me and it does not bother me because HSBC is a drug laundering criminal enetrprise and supporting killers like HSBC is immoral.  Waiting for your next lame attempt.

A medical sonographer - aka xray tech - maxes out at about $45,000/year.  I got on this board  because HSBC bank called my cell today.  For the first time since I owned the card, I forgot to make a payment.  I only owe $40 bucks but am 16 days late on my minimum payment of $10.  So, I'm a nurse with an MSN, living in CT who made over $100K last year.  I drive a $20,000 car.  Damn....had I known I can own a BMW/Mercedes or whatever it is you drive, I would have foregone my 8 years of schooling and become a medical sonographer.

So you are a wealthy LA songrapher with a $100,000 car and you don't even know that I is capitalized. I would think some sort of education is required for that position. From the looks of your posting Gunnar described your stupidity very well and you lived up to that description. No doubts that debt collection was the only job you were qualified for.

you know debt collectors? well i'm not one. i'm a diagnostic medical sonographer in los angeles, NOT a debt collector. i am not a low-life. i have a very successful spouse, and we have two homes, and two luxury cars- one that cost over $100,000. why are you people so paranoid that everyone standing up for a debt collector is secretly a debt collector posing as somebody else. you have issues. i'm leaving this conversation now, because i have to go to work, at the HOSPITAL. you can troll around these pages, attacking people or whatever you need to do to make yourself feel relevant. i stumbled upon this page trying to figure out who was calling me, and discovered a snake pit of people who are avoiding their debts. how did you end up here? it doesn't matter anyway. your deranged mind has your own version of the truth and whats right and wrong. you have an out of control hatred for debt collectors, which means you probably have been delinquent before. good luck with your life. i have a feeling that you probably need it.
Report by Gunnar Long ago Unknown

Haha, just got a call myself. I've been hearing from them for a while, despite the cease and desist letter I sent (via certified mail, no less, so I know they got it!). I require the name of the attorney that will represent you no later than 1pm on Monday, that is Jan 26, 2009. The callback number to give the attorney is 800-275-7176 x439. When calling an attorny, ask what Penal code 36.33 entails for you. Do not hinder yourself, [Nacho]; this will affect you immediately."I looked up the penal code they mentioned. Not only is there no such one (not even in their state, Texas, where they're located... and I'm in Florida!), but Code 36 itself is all about bribery and corrupt influence. Ironic, isn't it? LOL

Well, "affidavits" means nothing, and if it was filed in their office, its for sure it's fake.  Courthouses/court clerks don't call people about filed paperwork, as that is not their job.  They file paperwork, period.  It is the responsibility of the suing party or the cops, depending on whether it's civil or criminal, to do the serving, and it's not done by "affidavits."  They also wouldn't be calling you now for something supposedly filed in 2008.  A scam. Hang up on them, and if they persist, get a nice metal whistle and blow it in their ear if they harass you (usually after 3-5 calls, depending on the locale.)

I've been getting calls from this number for over a year.  Based on the number displayed, this look like caller ID spoofing to me.  Callers can spoof caller ID with m-a-n-y smartphones today, as well as by using Skype.  (Caller ID spoofing has become a much larger problem with the advent of the smartphone application for spoofing.)It might not be NBTY after all.  What to do?  If I can engage the caller is a conversation so that he/she reveals their identity.  I would then post their identity on this message string.

I just got a call and I refused to let it through, and the guy did not believe I wasn't the owner (because I am a guy, I guess). It was absolutely hilarious. Don't let these people intimidate you, have fun with them! What is really funny is they always assume the owner goes by an informal name. Have been calling me at least twice a week for the past 3 months - about since the time I switched my number to Verizon.  Have requested to be removed twice - first person was really nice, second person hung up on me.  Asked woman today for the name of her company - was told "Dealer Services".  Asked for her name (Selena) then proceeded to ask for my name to be removed since it is my cell number.  Was hung up on!

We have received this phone call more than 5 times.  With the last two calls, we have tried to speak with the individual on the other end.  First time: Wanted to renew warranty on the vehicle.  I responded with "Which Car?" They hung up.  Second time: Wanted to renew warranty on the vehicle. I told them I had multiple cars and that I needed clarification. They asked me "What at the makes of your cars?" I told them.  They hung up.Complete crap.

The (603) 214-3691 number belongs to 'Freedom Ring Communications' in Errol, NH. You can do a "reverse lookup" on www.yellowbook.com by typing in the number you want. If you're on the national Do Not Call registry, you can contact them or the registry. Apparently, there are huge fines ($12,000) for soliciting somebody on the registry. If they're unlisted. Try using a search engine with the phone number. It'll show whatever company has that number on a web site. www.Yellowpages.com is good too. Here's a link to the actual gov't DNC registry. Telemarketers are required to update it every 31 days. It took about two weeks for my phone to stop ringing, but I haven't been solicited for over 2yrs. www.donotcall.govthey will send you a message sortof like this. It is like a "onesource" for eating dinner peacefully. They'll send you a confirmation email something like this._______Your phone number with the last four digits 2809 was most recently registered in the National Do Not Call Registry on June 05, 2006. Most telemarketers will be required to stop calling you 31 days from your registration date. Visit https://www.donotcall.gov  to do any of these things:-- to renew your registration-- to file a complaintPrint this email and keep it for your records.

He gave me two phone numbers. The first, 876-571-1150 and the second, 717-435-7006. I kept asking for a website or some proof that I could confirm this was real and he couldn't give me any information. He told me to go to a town about 45 minutes from here to claim my prize and he would escort me to my bank to deposit the check. He asked me to describe my car and my clothing. 3AM in Honolulu, I got a call from a "Mr Anderson" who said I had been chosen to win $ 85 million dollars and a new Mercedes Benz. He said I needed to go to Walmart and pick up a "Money pack scratch card" immediately, and call him back at 876-3235016 and give him the # on the card. He said this card, that I've never heard of before, could be obtained from anyone working at Walmart. . He spoke with a heavy foreign accent which I thought sounded Hindu Indian or Pakistani. He seemed oblivious to that he was calling at 3AM HST. He said it was 7:30 AM where he was calling from. Evidently unfamiliar with the concept of time zones, or he wanted to catch someone off balance in their drowsiness. He also couldn't/wouldn't give any web address. He kept saying I had to do as he asked me, or his boss would fire him. He said Fed Ex, or somebody like that would come by with the winnings for a contest I never heard of. I suspected scam within seconds of answering the phone. I was waiting for him to ask for info he could use to steal my identity or empty out my bank account. He did not ask of this. He knew my 1st name, and obviously my home phone #. I asked him where he got these. He said from the US gov't. I asked how. He was fuzzy, but seemed to imply that the US govt was somehow going to give me this unsolicited "prize winning". He wanted to know when to call back to get that #. I told him in 12 hrs. When he calls, if I'm here, I mayl answer, say excuse me, and set the phone down until it makes a sound that it needs to be hung up. Also, I'll report this to the local phone co to be on the lookout for 3rd party calls from Jamaica charged to my #.

They just did it again.  I called MP Shopper and screamed my head off.  Said someone checked a box on the bill.  Well, since I get the bill and pay by computer, not sure who was doing that checking.  Why doens't the FTC do something about these people.  Bank of America doesn't do a single thing about this.  That is honestly baffling to me.  I went back over my old records (online) and noticed MP Shopper had also done this in October of 2010.  I had caught the 2009 fraud, missed the 2010 fraud, and just caught the 2011 fraud.  Folks you really need to check your statements since this stuff and stuff like this pops up without any action on your part and Bank of America couldn't care less that its visa is the mechanism used.  Remember, Bank of America gets a tiny percentage of every charge MP Shopper does.  So, there is little incentive for Bank of America to fix this problem.  It is not a problem for them, in fact, I would imagine it is factored into their line items revenues.

Haha, just got a call myself. I've been hearing from them for a while, despite the cease and desist letter I sent (via certified mail, no less, so I know they got it!). Here's what the latest message said, from someone named Martinez -- apparently, they revamped it for 2009, sneaky twits:"This message is regarding an answer, it is time that you think seriously about what you’re doing to neglect yourself.
