Got a call from a caller representing Health Products Assistance Products. It said if I was a senior suffering from back pain, diabetes, or arthritis, Medicare would pay for an elastic back brace for me. When I said I wouldn't do anything like that without my Dr's. approval, they said it would go to my Dr. for approval first. I gave them my Dr's. name. They then said they would have someone call me. In the meantime I called Medicare and they said it was a scam. When the young woman called me I told her I knew it was a scam and had every intention of calling the police about the call. Unfortunately when I checked my caller ID, it was an "unknown" number. They already had my address. I certainly hope they can't do anything with the Dr's. name.

I received that same call this morning from a man who said he was calling from Fairfax VA. When I asked him who would pay for it, he said it was covered by my insurance because I am on Medicare.   I told him I am a taxpayer and that meant that I would pay for it and all the others we was going to charg for.  HE HUNG UP.I do not have caller ID and so cannot give you a number.

I just happened to be sitting at my computer when the phone rang with a call from "American Senior Assistance". I had the guy on the speakerphone while I typed in the so-called name of his company. The first thing that popped up was this site. A quick glance confirmed my suspicions that I was dealing with scammers.I tried to keep the individual on the phone as long as possible just to waste his time. He finally hung up and forgot to say goodbye. When I get a call from a scammer such as "this is Rachel from cardholder services", I always press one and do my best to keep the person on the line for as long as possible. I never give out any personal information in any shape or form. I just hope that as long as they are dealing with me, they are not connecting with the next victim.Thank you for the detailed information, is a pity we cannot get this out to every senior.

PLEASE READ – I KNOW IT IS LONG BUT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT – THANK YOUI just received a call regarding the same theme as yours and I DO HAVE THE REST OF THE INFORMATION. I received a call from SCAMMER #1 phone number on caller ID, 571-963-3212, American Senior Assistance, Press 1 if you have diabetes or back problems or Press 2 if you would like to be removed from the list. Do not look for this phone number only they change them up. The person was very nice, asked me about my back and how he could get me a back brace sent to me free from Medicare. He seemed rushed to get my date of birth and transfer me to the local company that would mail me the brace. First, I asked "wouldn't I need to get fitted for the brace?" he again pushed for the DOB. I explained I did not know him from Adam; I did not call him and insisted on NOT giving him my DOB. I also asked for the company's number I was being transferred to so I could call them, he said he would transfer me to the local company and he did. I was transferred to a Ronald Harris from Health Product Assistance for Seniors without a way of knowing the phone number for this company. Ronald, a/k/a SCAMMER #2, said the company he was calling for so fast I could not hear clearly, so I asked him to spell it. I still could not hear it clearly and finally he gave me the name of the company Product Assistance for Seniors. I was asked for my address very quickly without explaining anything about the back brace or how this program works. He asked again for my address and I said, "Until you explain how things work and I can have a phone number to call you back I cannot go any further. He quickly hung up.First, I immediately did a Reverse Phone Lookup on the internet from www.whitepages.com/reverse_phone and there was no such number. Second, I Google HEALTH ASSISTANCE FOR SENIORS and there is NO SUCH COMPANY. When I Google the original company that called, AMERICAN SENIOR ASSISTANCE, there is NO SUCH COMPANY. However, there is a company SIMILAR, AMERICAN SENIOR ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS, INC. which is a LEGIT COMPANY in Huntsville, AL, phone number 256-382-0426.I hope this helps everyone who receives a call like this or any other SCAM phone calls. I am very good at catching a fraud, but this was a tricky one. Remember - DO NOT GIVE INFORMATION TO ANYONE YOU DO NOT KNOW, UNLESS you called the company yourself and researched ahead that they are a legit/existing company.THE SAME GOES FOR EMAILS FROM ANY UNTRUSTED SENDERS. I have received several fake emails from my bank and other strange names asking me to click on their link in the body of their email to update information, or for other reasons. DO NOT use their link it will take you to the SCAMMER’S website. Call your bank or sign-in to the company from you opening the internet – not by using the link in the body of the email you received.Sad to say, but this is the way life is currently; our own research is the only thing that will save us. If you are ever unsure of a call, ask for their phone number, tell them you need to discuss this with (e.g. relative, friend, etc.) and you will get back to them. Regarding unsure emails, which believe me, look 99% identical to real banks or companies emails. Best advice, again as mentioned above, open the internet yourself and sign-in but NEVER by clicking on the email links.

I just got a call from a woman from this phone number wanting to set up an interview with me tomorrow. I asked who the company was and she said it so fast I didn't hear it. She would not tell me anything about the company and told me to be at their office Thursday at 10:30 in professional attire to meet with their Senior Manager Jared Cleckner. I felt a bit weird about it because I hadn't applied for any jobs in the Central Phoenix area I live in the far West Valley. I looked it up and found this site and now I know who they are and what they are trying to do so I will save my time and gas and skip it. Thanks for the information everyone!!!

people should learn to read between the lines. If you look up almost any company it will say something about being a scam. The cooley agency is one of the fastest growing agencies in the company with about 15 managers and 60 agents. You make money during training and are set up from day one to be successful. I'm perfectly happy in my own profession, and those for whom I work are happy to have me working for them.  I get requests from recruiters all the time to switch jobs, but have no interest in changing jobs, and I have no interest in working for your company even if I were interested in changing jobs.Folks, the experience you get from this company may be quite legal and legitimate -- I can't say one way or the other, because I just don't know.  But it *is* your choice whether you want to have this experience.  Use your best judgment.

It is amazing to me that every complaint and concern on this blog is from people supposedly looking for employment.  this is an industry where people can actually pave their own way to success.  with this company is provided with training and the resources to do so.  i will be the first to tell you that it is not an easy profession.  it takes actuall hard work, which no matter how much you want to lie to yourself about the subject, people in general are still trying to find some magically carrer that they can make a substantial income and not have to put in any effort to do so..... little bit of advice.... it doesnt exist.  the most successful people in this company come from all sorts of backgrounds, and this comapny gives an opportunity to those that portray that they will work.  it is so much easier to blog something negative about a company and put it off on someone else rather than to look at yourself and your own "bad luck" that you don't have a job.  how bout this... stop feeding yourself and others a bunch of excuses of why you are not successful.  as far as the licensing requirements to become an insurance professional.... how in your right mind do you consider that a scam???  tomorrow try going to a real estate company and apply to be a real estate agent, but be sure to say on you're application that they are a scam if they dont pay for you to obtain your real estate license to work there.  if you are planning to come in for an interview, feel that you have good communication skills, and are willling to work hard, this could be a great opportunity.  if i not i completely understand..... "the world needs plenty of bartenders".  don't bash a company for trying to give you an opportunity..... keep waiting for that positon that your are so obviously so entintled to..... good luck

An Asian man named "John Smith" emails sign companies to place a large order of banners. He wants you to use a specific shipping company but want you to charge his card for the shipping and your company would be liable for the shipping cost. Instead of him paying for the shipping himself and having the mercandise picked up from your company. What was strange is that he wanted 20 banners manufactured in Canada and then shipped to South Africa. Where if he ordered the banners from a company in Africa, it would only cost him pennies on the dollar.I suspect that the order would go through on a fraudulant credit card, then charged back to your company and you would end up having to pay their shipping charges.

Todd, I can't prove it's the Ghana scammers, but I KNOW THEIR CALLS LIST VARIOUS OTHER TELEPHONE NUMBERS AROUND THE UNITED STATES, BECAUSE I WAS THE VICTIM OF A GHANAIAN SCAMMER, AND I HAVE NUMEROUS NUMBERS STORED ON MY CALLER-ID THAT HE "CONNECTS" WITH.  Of course, his cell numbers would also register sometimes, along with other numbers that he didn't have an explanation for.  He even called and it registered 2 numbers right here in my local area.  I'm in Eastern time zone, and if it's them, they will call you starting about 4:00 a.m. Eastern time (which is 8:00 a.m. Ghana time).  They use the IP relay phone system to also call you (the one from Cleveland, OH (216-416-0033).  They work out of their Internet Cafes all night, so they even call sometimes as late as 11:00 or 12:00 midnight Eastern time.  I've even had calls at 2:00 a.m., which is 6:00 their time.  Our police, FBI, and Secret Service don't have enough manpower to catch these "elusive" scammers.  I think the American citizens are going to have to organize against this type activity and take it to Washington, DC.  I'm about ready!

I donated to this org. 10 years ago (before I knew it was a scam) and they have been calling me ever since.  I now get 2 or 3 calls a day, and, yes, they do call very early and very late, which I thought was against the law.  I answered one of their calls 2 months ago and told them not to contact me again and to remove me from their call list.  I still find their no. on my caller i.d. 2 or 3 times a day.  Very, very annoying.

Have any of you experienced this?  I have also started turning off my phone at night as they call very late and very early.  If this truly is a telemarketing company, what are they trying to accomplish?  They don't even talk to us!!

We get these calls most every day. Like the other people who get the calls, I gave money last year to help law enforcement, but I will never donate to the police again. I've done a bit of research and found out this is a Los Angeles telemarketing company who does work for a lot of different types of businesses -- all using the same phone tactics. Perhaps the organizations who use CACOPM will realize, over time, that these tactics actually hurt their chances of getting money from a ticked off public.

These jerks must be stopped! I called AT&T and they told me there is nothing we can do. Even if you go to the police station and file a report, they won't do anything about it unless the caller is threatening. I tried to use my *60 to block the number but it doesn't work. AT&T said the number can't be blocked through their system. I know my wife has donated in the past and I'm thinking about looking for a canceled check to trace them through the bank. Although, at this point, I've already wasted too much time. She has made out checks over the past year or so to COPS or something like that.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%.  I'd be wary, with all the scammers rampant, about donating to any organization that is not tax-deductible, and also where you can't see a face, get an identification on them from the organization, etc.  I've received calls from 205 area code (Birmingham, AL) from the same type organization...some fraternal order of police or something like that.  They want you to supposedly donate over the phone, which means you have to provide either a credit card to someone you can't see, or to a company or organization you can't prove at that point, or you have to write them a check and mail it to someone who MAY NOT even be legitimate.  Once you do that, they have your bank account number.  Scammers from Africa and Russia are infiltrating this country and others; are largely supporting terrorism tactics.  Osama bin Laden stated that he was going to break the American economy by breaking out pocketbooks....he's enlisted Russian scammers to be the trainers of the notorious scammers in Nigeria and Accra, Ghana and elsewhere.  They are conducting all sort of financial scams, involving contributions, investments, buying/selling over ebay, etc.  Also, one of the biggest terrorist tactics bin Laden is using against America is in the form of "sweetheart" or "romance" scams, where they target single, trusting American men and women who are interested in finding a mate/partner.  I know, it happened to me....big time!  Look up "Nigerian Scams" in your google search bar....you'll be shocked at the criminal activity that is occurring, and more shocked at how they've infiltrated the American economy!

I am not sure if they are even legit. and for someone to be rude is beyond  belief...just say you are not who they are asking for and they have the wrong number, and they will then vanish.....and move on to the next sucker.

They are the California organization of Police and Law Enforcement Officers (or someting to that effect).  They are supposedly a non-profit organization but your donations are not tax deductible because part of the donation is used to pay the phone solicitors.  At one time I gave a donation to a law enforcement organization and since that time I have been contacted by many different organizations with different names all involved in supporting the families of law enforcement officers.  It is more than likely that if you are being contacted you gave money to some organization and this particular one now has your number and are part of the same network.  Because of this it does not fall under the do not call list.  They are relentless.

I received a text message saying to go on line to Best Buy and enter 777 to win a $1,000 gift card.  I never use texting; so, how do they get my cell number, and how do I get rid of this nuisance?

Glad I read this. Got the same call from amy, who said she was with the cooley agency. When her number wasn't answered I called cooley (an ad agency), who said they never heard from her. Her call came after I posted a res on career builder. Glad I missed her initial call. Definitely shady...

"Lorie" just called and left a message to set up a job interview. She didn't say for what position and I closed my monster.com account (the only place they could've gotten my resume) months ago so it seemed a little fishy. I'm glad I looked it up before calling back.

Scam!  They took my information from a job searching website and left several messages wanting to set up an appointment for an interview.  I have seen that all they want is to get you into their office they try and get you to purchase their insurance policies.  Don't fall for this!!!!

I received a high pressure call from a Cindy who claims to be from American Income Supplemental Insurance, and she has scheduled an interview for me for the next morning. She was unwilling to give me any information about the jobs that I would be interviewing for. There was all this fast talk about my coming to this address in downtown Phoenix and the interviewer would give me the information. She said she got my info from Monster.com where I posted by resume.the call left me feeling uneasy

people should learn to read between the lines. If you look up almost any company it will say something about being a scam. The cooley agency is one of the fastest growing agencies in the company with about 15 managers and 60 agents. You make money during training and are set up from day one to be successful. Good luck to all of you that are negative trying to find a job.

"the world needs plenty of bartenders".  don't bash a company for trying to give you an opportunity..... keep waiting for that positon that your are so obviously so entintled to..... good luck
