This collection agency keeps calling me at work and telling me I am in default on my student loans.  I am still in school and my loans are in deferment.  When I ask for more information or to speak with a supervisor they refuse to give me the information and they refuse a supervisor.  I then call to my school and ask about my student loans and they call me back and say there is no delinquencies on your student loans your still in school and you do not start paying back the loans until six months after you graduate.  I am a full time student when I try to explain this to the idiot calling he gets rude and won't tell me WHAT student loans or an amount, and refuses to provide me with proof of anything.  I think that this is a scam!

You need to ask who is calling and what it is in reference to. Do not go past this point untill they give you the information. If they don't provide the information, document the date, time and number of the caller. If they do, repeat their name, who they are with and tell them not to ever call back. Again, document the dates, times and who you spoke with, print out a copy of your phone records and then contact an attorney who praqctices in this field. Generally they will provide a free initial consultaton. I suspect, as has been done against First Source Advantage in the past for harassment and threatening calls, you would be able to file harassment charges. At least that is the route I am going. Check out the following web site or just type in "First Source Advantage Harassment case" in your search engine. You can find plenty of cases against First Source and it will just substiant another lawsuit or potentially a class action suit given the number of complaints filled against them already. You should also file a complaint through the BBB.

This is a debt from when I was 18, I'm 40 now. Scumbag collection agencies buy these old debts for pennies just hoping to scam or scare people into paying anything. I do not answer as I have nothing to say about this 22 year old unsecured debt. We are in the middle of a re-fi on our home (that we have never missed a payment on) and this is when these "debt scumbags" came out of the wood work. Sir, I pray for your soul.

Yah and guess what else they know?  They know how to "Gag" an account.  Let's talk about what that means shall we?? Ok...  When Collectors pull your credit report, they can call your Financial institution such as, Toyota Financial, or your student loans... and since they already have your social, they can call in and pretend they are you!  You want to know why they do that?  To get your phone number and blast you!  Not only can you sue the agency for this, but you can also sue the collector!!!  Hopefully they won't change there company name by then.  Sounds like fun right?  It was a lot of fun to hear some other collection agency had a fake court room set up in there office...  They got sued and put out of business.  I'm sure it was pretty easy Mr. Debt Collector.  Save your money people and you can sue too if you feel bent over and screwed!!!  Especially when they say you owe more money than what's on your Credit.  Don't be scared to pull a CBR. Don't get me wrong we work to pay for our living expenses so PLEASE pay the man, but don't be stupid and or scared about it.  Hiding from collectors is not gonna work.   You have the FREAKIN WORLD WIDE INTERNET at your disposal.  What the hell is stopping you from knowing your rights?  It's your CHECKING ACCOUNT AND.  YOUR.   LIFE!!!!  So here's advice....  FDCPA LAW!!!  Google it or something.

I understand that if someone owes debt they have to pay for it. But collection agencies cross the line. You are not allowed to threaten people with lawsuit if they don't pay, you can't release personal information who is not the debtor, you can not call 10x a day to harass person. But yet time and time again collection agencies break these laws over and over again. But the beauty of all of this is you can SUE and collect up to $1,000 for each violation. Check out FDCPA rules and regulations. Here are some really nasty collection agenciesVikingPNCArrow financialMidland ManagementNCSReally horrible attorneyMARK D. WALSH

I get calls from this # all the time and I mess with them them.  This is a company representing a payday lender.  Bottom line is that they will send correspondence in writing if they are a true collection agency.  I got a payday loan, had a great time spending the money, and am never going to pay it back.  I closed my checking acct, opened a new one and have susccessfully avoided any fees of any kind.  Ha ha.  This was all done in an experiment to see if I could get away with it, and I did.  Many of these so called lenders are taking a risk by lending to people in states that they don't even have a license to be lending in.  They count on the uneducated, weak willed person to pay them back in huge finance charges by threatening them with phone calls and promises to take them to court.  If that's the case, then why on multiple times when I have blatantly told these loser debt collectors to take me to court, report it to the credit bureus, and come to my house, they haven't?  Because they know that the company they are representing was not supposed to lend in my state, but they did anyways.  It's been over a year now, and not noe negative mark on my credit, and not one collection notice in the mail.  They don't have a leg to stand on when you know the debt collection laws.  Like I said, it was fun spending their money!   By the way, I'm in CA.  Take a loan like I did from Ameriloan, US Fast Cash, or EastSide Lenders, then close your checking acct. right away, have a great time spending the money, and never pay it back.  There's not a thing they can do in CA.  The courts have already told these companies they are not to be internet lending to someone who states they are in CA.  The only thing they will do is blow up yor phone, so when you take the loan, buy a throw away phone at 7/11, give them a friend's # aas your employer so when they try calling your employer, it will go to your friend, and sit back and relax.  Watch for my new book on "how to scam the scammers." (still working on the title)

Maybe if you answered the phone like a man and told them your situation and attempted to do the right thing you wouldnt be going through this! Collection agencies as well as attorneys have programs to get all this info along with a credit report. This is what your subject to when your a debtor! If you own a car, we know it, have a bank account, we know it! Maybe they just didnt get around to calling your job to verify it yet! Too many debtors these days are trying to "sue" to get out of there debt. Good luck, it doesnt happen very often! Sounds to me like they are giving you a chance to do the right thing. Put it off long enough and you may get a summons from an attorney in your state. Depends on alot of things but 90% of the time it isnt going to go away! :)

They are now calling from 716-213-0294isn't it against the law to call my fiancee's parents and tell them that i am in trouble and they want to sue me???????????????????????????????????Isnt that disclosing my personal information, we are not married and his parents called me and asked if i was in some kind of trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have been getting messages from them daily on my cell phone, i never answernow they are calling my soon to be parents in law and telling them they want to sue me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They say they are a federal agency and they are bringing a federal lawsuit against me. I am unemployed and have nothing in my name...Dumb a@@ even stated that they were going to deliver a summons to me at my place of employment.... Shoot~ id love to know where im working!!!!!And if that was the case and they did know where i was working... They could just call and find out i no longer work there.I get calls from men and woman alike, every day and now my fiancee's parents are getting these calls.Funny thing is, they are saying my real first and last name then state or my first and his last name. Wtf?How did they get his parents number.... They go to public record and looked up my last name on jcad.org........ Found out that we are buying this house together and then looked up his last name. His parents name and address pops up along with his brothers name and address. Then they get the landline numbers to them and harass them. So if you wonder how they got your neighbors number... They went to your county's public record and can call your neighbors. They can also find relatives if you have an uncommon last name like my fiancee.I would like to sue them for disclosing my information to his parents when they are of no relation to me!!!Anyone know how i can do that????

Something to keep in mind about all these continuing bothersome calls for surveys, so called charities and so called charity pickups despite asking them to remove you from their list:Call centers have sprung up in my town that make use of the survey and the charity loophole around the do not call list; they have been a headache for law enforcement, emergency services, neighboring businesses and residential areas.  When I ask any patrolling officer in town about these call centers, they are quick to state their frustrations about the criminal activity that some of these call centers have brought into the area. Several law enforcement agencies regularly visit some of these call centers looking for warrant arrests etc.  I have heard from sources including from frustrated employees that work for these call centers complaining about the drug activity, vandalism of cars and neighboring businesses, break-ins and theft, drinking while on the job, smoke breaks are actually marijuana breaks, drunk driving, very dangerous driving, tons of tossed out litter of empty liquor containers, trash, food etc.  I’ve even heard that the mangers are also involved in criminal activities and have even preyed on their legitimate employees who are simply trying to eek out a living on horrible wages.  Also the operators are untrained in a very high turn around, poorly managed and dysfunctional work environment. Also realize this when you call a companies’ customer service line and get horrible service from the call center that’s been hired by the company.  One time while on a call with our bank’s customer service, the operator was so loopy that it required ending the call and calling again to try and get someone else to help, think about that when you call a companies’ customer service and the conversation gets odd, off the wall and obtuse – you may be talking to an operator that’s drunk or on something.  After 6 months of getting a different and wrong answer to our ongoing problem each time we called our bank’s call center, we gave up and closed the account. With so little police left in our town due to cutbacks, they can’t always respond to vandalism and break-ins when it’s witnessed as they have their plate full responding to the major emergencies, this allows the criminal activity free reign, the neighborhood becomes the hood.  Some insurance companies require proof of private security patrols before they will honor a claim due to vandalism or theft leaving the neighboring businesses off guard and uncovered.  These businesses also have the added cost to hire private security, install security systems/monitoring, upgrade lighting etc.  Then there are the dangers and headaches to the nearby businesses employees such as their cars being vandalized or broken into.  Some businesses simply give in, pickup and move out of town. One of my neighbors owns a call center and he requires that his operators are bonded, but I guess there’s no laws requiring this – there should be.  Right now in my town it seems like anybody can start up a call center and hire questionable labor for cheap without much regulation.I my efforts the past several years to try and get something done, I am most struck by the fact that there’s no real help, everyone is more worried about being sued than dealing with the obvious problem - you are on your own....

This number has called me for the past 2 weeks, the calls start in the morning around 10 a.m. Sometimes its a male voice with a thick accent, sometimes its a female with a thick accent, but always one of the two same voices, so im guessing these 2 same people make the majority of the calls. Once they asked for my bank account information so that they could deposit a cash prize that I had won, another time they said I had won a pre-paid credit card with a $3500 limit. This morning they informed me that I had requested some form of work at home information from their website, which I had never done. I have asked them to please stop calling me, they wont, I have placed them on the "do not call" list, yet they use many different numbers. Im unsure how to stop them from calling. I suggest hanging up on them as soon as possible. Anyone who asks for your personal information is up to no good.

This is a group of people currently taking advantage of people across the United States. They go by a variety of names and phone numbers -- some of the names they use include Global Asset Investigations, Worldwide Recovery Services, Worldwide Asset Investigation Services and North American Asset Investigation Bureau (NAAIB). Last year they were operating out of Cleveland, OH, until they were shut down -- the Cleveland BBB named them as one of the top ten scams of 2007 (http://cleveland.bbb.org/WWWRoot/SitePage.asp ... 19642b&art=4334).You can get more info here: http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/NAAIB.htm.They will probably continue using this MD number until they get shut down again, then start using a new area code, but the MO is always the same: they call and identify themselves in a way that implies they are either working for a lawyer, the court system, or the police department (all of these misleading statements are illegal); tell you that there has been a civil case filed against you, they give you a case number, and tell you that you must contact them before a warrant is sworn out against you. When you contact them, they tell you that they are investigating a debt that is 10, 12, 15 or so years old; they'll name some bank you've never heard of, or a credit card you've never heard of. They'll have just enough information about you to make you nervous and they'll be phishing to find out more information. They'll tell you that the debt is some ridiculous amount -- let's say $10,200 for an example -- but if you're willing to pay today, they'll reduce it to, for example, $650. But they can't give you an address. Instead, they will ask for your bank account or credit card number. They'll tell you that if you don't settle on the phone with them that moment, a sheriff will appear at your door within 48 hours to arrest you. NONE OF THIS IS TRUE. Complaints have been filed to the AG of OH, MD, TX, NY, and IL, as well as to the FTC, FCC, and the FBI (as they are trying to illegally extort money over the phone). They often target the elderly and infirm. Do not speak with them, and save whatever messages they leave on your phone. If you get a phone call, file a complaint online with the following organizations:http://www.oag.state.md.us/Consumer/complaint.htmhttps://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=enhttp://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htmas well as the Attorney General of your own state. Remember: whether the debt is yours or not, you should not be dealing with these people. They are not a legitimate organization.PLEASE -- file a report. You were smart and savvy enough to do research on this number; not everyone is that lucky. REPORT THEM!!!

My experience was virtually the same as "MRH", Dec 7, 2011". The only difference was that it was a 7-digit number. It was received by landline at my request for accessing the administration area on my computer after performing a system function. I, toJANo considered it the most secure way to receive this info.

I received a call from 714-868-0120 and it was legitimate (for me at least).  It was an automated call made to me (that was prompted by me) so that my web hosting service provider could provide me with a 5 digit security code that I would allow me to access the admin function of my website.  It was sent this way as it was a security measure that I requested.  I was given an option to receive the code via text and e-mail but I did not want it to be sent that way as hackers could gain unauthorized access to the administrative function of my website.

I got a call back from this number and name. It was from the google verification system issuing a code to verify that identity. If someone put your number in by mistake then that is why it happened.

Keep getting calls from someone looking for an ex-relative.  Have advised them numerous times that this person does not live at this address, but it does no good.  They continue to call using different telephone numbers.

Got two calls from this number and only got part of the message letting me know my "code".  When I called back this number was busy.  Bogus. Legitimate businesses have a caller ID name, leave their business name and a working phone number, Fraud departments for Banks will also state the bank name and phoned number too. --Also noted in 3 ohter post here that 3 different businesses mentioned--chase Micorsoft and an internet service provider-can't imagine all 3 companies have one number....

This is a verification code sent to you by YAHOO to verify you own an account with them.  Either someone entered your phone number in for them to leave a voice call or text to verify your yahoo account or they already had the phone number in their yahoo profile.
